MARCH NEWSLETTER – Next month Northern Arizona University is coming down with a wheelchair specialist as well as therapists. (MORE ON OUR WHEELCHAIR PROGRAM BELOW). This means His Wings Ranch will be in the business of hosting them. That starts with building beds.

FEBRUARY NEWSLETTER – Loma Linda brought speech therapy students and physical therapy students to the ranch in January for a one day trip. Together with our staff, we saw 30 children and gave the parents strategies and treatment ideas for their little ones.

In the past Loma Linda, Point Loma, and Northern Arizona universities have all come along side His Wings to also help bring help in the areas of speech therapy and occupational therapy. The universities bring both their students and professors to see the children through one day clinics and equip our team to better implement future treatment.

On Saturday, February 8th a celebration of life was held at His Wings Ranch as an opportunity for the special needs community to come together to grieve, honor and remember the lives of Valentina and Lizeth who were killed along with 2 pilots and 2 medical personnel as the result of a tragic plane crash in Philadelphia on January 31st while in route back to Mexico after Valentina received medical treatment from Shriner’s Hospital. 

Our hearts are broken by the tragic death of two members of our community Valentina Guzman Murillo and her mom Lizeth Murillo Osuna as well as the lives of the 4 professional providers on board the plane and bystanders killed or injured on the ground in Philadelphia. We have worked together with Valentina and her mom for the past 5 years to assist with her Spina Bifida condition and her numerous health challenges at His Wings Ranch where we serve special needs kids in Maneadero, Mexico.

Nearly 200 guests attended His Wings Ranch Christmas Party hosted by Strong Tower Ministries from La Mision who graciously provided a Christmas feast on Sunday, December 8th for the families of the kids in our program. So many dedicated volunteers provided food, tables, chairs, two bouncy houses, clothes, school supplies, live music and a message of hope from pastors. – Special thank you to Bernardo Salada Alba for the photos in the following slide show.

Because of the successful matching program, we have been able to add 6 more children to our therapy family ! We are still very busy helping children to get the medical surgeries they need in the United States.

Our matching campaign raised 50,000 dollars!!!! We have NEVER had this amount of blessing in 25 years! In the past several months, 6 more children were accepted to cross the border!

We are so excited to have new concrete paths to allow the kids to move between the portables. These paths connect the 5 portable buildings and the main therapy area. They allow some of our more challenged children to move independently from building to building. This is especially helpful for kids with walkers and braces who will no longer have to push themselves through the dirt. An additional bonus is that they are being installed before the winter rains so that our newly remodeled portable classrooms stay clean!
