Making Great Progress For the Kids
Yolanda
Yolanda was born premature to a family in Oaxaca, Mexico who primarily speak Mixteco. She came to Baja and the ranch in 2020 at the age of 3 with cerebral palsy.
They told us she would never walk and that she would never talk. When she arrived not only was she neither walking nor talking but she wasn’t even able to crawl or sit up by herself. We set Yolanda up with braces and a walker and an adaptive stroller to prevent further postural deformities before starting a long-term program in earnest
Her smile was infectious and her trust was palpable. She received occupational and speech therapy at the ranch. By March of 2022 she started to stand for short periods of time. Then she started receiving horse therapy from Emilia and physical therapy and by 2024 Yolanda started walking with assistance.
She continued to progress and by the end of 2025 she took her first independent steps.
Now she is a student at the ranch and is learning to read and write at Kindergarten level. She speaks Spanish and enjoys being with her peers.
This August Yolanda walked to accept her elementary school achievement award without assistance.
She then danced with her friends
Your support, along with a house building organization called Yugo, provided Yolanda and her family with a house to allow them to live close and receive services.
Now Yolanda has a bright future ahead of her as she continues to improve attending school at the ranch with our instructor Lulu and continuing to receive therapy with Emelia. She is one of the 120 children whose lives have forever been changed for the better by your support of His Wings Ranch.
Just a few years ago His Wings Ranch looked like this:
Thanks to your monthly support it has been transformed into a community hub for therapy, education, wheelchairs, medical assistance and family assistance for over 120 special needs kids and their families.
Your support created horse corrals, built the wheelchair ramps, procured braces and wheelchairs for the kids, provided thousands of hours of physical and horse therapy, brought teachers for the classrooms and transported kids to doctors visits. You’ve brought hope to Yolanda and over one-hundred other kids by serving as the body of Christ expressed at His Wings Ranch. We are eternally grateful for your partnership.
