His Wings Ranch

Making Great Progress For the Kids

New Faces

Meet Augustine

Thanks to your support His Wings recently hired Augustine Lopez. Augustine possess a wide variety of skills that are perfectly suited to the needs of the ranch.

He is an experienced educator currently pursuing a specialty certification for mathematics. He is talented in working directly with the kids in both special education and horse therapy.

In addition he is an experienced ranch hand and has the unique skill of being able to weld and also repair mechanical systems. He will be trained to repair child wheelchairs in our workshop. He’ll also be using his computer skills to trouble shoot our computer system and act as IT support. He is an exceptionally talented addition to the His Wings staff.

Meet Roberto the “Child Whisperer”

You’ve probably heard of a “horse-whisperer”.  Roberto, standing in the front right with sunglasses on, has the same uncanny ability to understand children with psychological and behavioral challenges. We were fortunate to bring him to the ranch to offer a workshop to our staff.

He is earning his Phd in psychology in Guadalajara and flew to Baja last month to train our staff. He has an unusual gift for being able to diagnose and calm children with autism, post traumatic stress disorder and behavioral struggles and to treat them using the horses.

At the ranch we specialize in using horses for physical and sensory therapy but when it comes to kids with psychological challenges, this is where Roberto excels and thanks to his training we’re getting better too!

In the photo above Roberto is running one of our horses through the paces. It takes special training for horses to remain calm and predictable when being ridden by kids with emotional challenges.
